Answer: Understanding food labels can go a long way in managing your diet. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Nutritional Facts labels were updated in 2020 to help people better recognize healthier choices.
The FDA required manufacturers with $10 million or more in annual sales to update their labels by Jan. 1, 2020, and those manufacturers with less than $10 million in annual food sales to update their labels by Jan. 21, 2021. Companies that produce single-ingredient sugars, such as honey and maple syrup and some cranberry products have until July 1, 2021, to make changes.
Scientific studies from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, formerly known as the Institute of Medicine, played a big role in the label changes. Update on DARE-19 Phase III trial for Farxiga in COVID-19
AstraZeneca and Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute today announced high-level results of the primary analysis from the DARE-19 Phase III trial assessing the potential of Farxiga (dapagliflozin) to treat patients hospitalised with COVID-19 who are at risk of developing serious complications.
The trial did not achieve statistical significance for the primary endpoint of prevention measuring organ dysfunction and all-cause mortality, and the primary endpoint of recovery measuring a change in clinical status (from early recovery to death), at 30 days.
DARE-19 was the first Phase III trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor in patients hospitalised with COVID-19 who also have risk factors for developing serious complications, including hypertension (HTN), type-2 diabetes (T2D), atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), heart failure ( ....

8:15 a.m.: Over 30% of Missourians have initiated vaccination
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services added 198 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in Missouri now stands at 493,728.
DHSS reported no new deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 8,515 since the pandemic began.
DHSS started reporting vaccination data on Jan. 27. Numbers will update as providers report data to the state. According to the dashboard, differences between the state’s data and the CDC data is due to timing.

Vaccination event in Cole County to distribute 1,000 doses per day, starting Monday


COLE COUNTY - The Cole County Health Department will start administering 1,000 vaccines per day at the Capital Mall in Jefferson City starting Monday, April 12.
The doses given this week are Pfizer, meaning those who receive the vaccine will have to return for a second dose. 
Cole County’s vaccination site expansion starts a few days after all Missouri adults will be eligible to receive a free vaccine. Since the event next week will be giving out Pfizer doses, 16 and 17-year-old residents will be able to receive a vaccine.
Cole County Commissioner Sam Bushman said the objective is a “slow and steady” approach. Bushman said this is contrasted with the goal of mass vaccination events, which aims to vaccinate as many people in the shortest amount of time. ....
