The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has said candidates and schools caught in any act of malpractice will be dealt with.
This is as the Council stated that those with the complaint have a one-year grace after the release of results to make an appeal.
These decisions and more were reached at the just-concluded 71st meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of WAEC held on Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th April 2021 at the WAEC Testing and Training Centre (WTTC), Ogba, Lagos.
In a release signed by the Acting Head Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, the decisions were part of the decisions reached at the meeting by the Committee which is the highest decision making organ of WAEC.

Any candidate who sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations(WASSCE) being conducted by the West African Examinations Council(WAEC) and found culpable of malpractice and his or her results either in whole or part is cancelled because of that will only be given a year window to challenge WAEC for such cancellation.
By this development, WAEC will no longer entertain any appeal on results cancellation based on malpractice from any candidate in both school-based and private diets of its exams after one year the results had been officially released.
The Nigeria Examinations Committee of WAEC, which is the highest decision-making organ for the organisation on exam-related matters in Nigeria, made the decision at its 71st meeting held in Lagos between Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has approved stringent sanctions against candidates, supervisors, and schools involved in examination malpractice.
A statement from the acting Head of Public Affairs at the WAEC office in Yaba, Demianus Ojijeogu, noted that the approval was made at the 70th meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of the council held from Thursday to Saturday last week in Lagos.
In the course of considering the various reported cases of malpractice and after diligent deliberations, the committee approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice, as prescribed by the Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of WAEC examinations.
