The Trust Respect Access Coalition led the press conference on the South Steps of the Texas Capitol alongside several state representatives. Former Texas state senator and former candidate for Texas governor Wendy Davis was among those voicing their opposition to the bill which would ban abortions after a heartbeat is detected in the womb, much earlier than under current law.

Published Friday, April 30, 2021 1:13PM EDT Nearly six weeks after Toronto opened its first mass vaccination clinics, residents without OHIP cards will finally be able to book an appointment to receive a jab. An OHIP card has never been a requirement to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at Toronto’s mass vaccination clinics but individuals without one had previously found themselves unable to actually book appointments because agents at the provincial call centre requested one. A valid OHIP number was also a requirement for those booking appointments through the province’s online portal. However in a news release issued on Friday, the city said announced that it has now partnered with several community agencies on a workaround for those without OHIP cards.

CITYNEWS The City of Toronto announced on Friday it’s partnering with FCJ Refugee Centre and Access Alliance to help people without an Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card get the COVID-19 vaccine in Toronto. The announcement comes after those without OHIP cards have reported hitting massive roadblocks and confusion when trying to book an appointment, even if they fall into the eligible categories to get vaccinated. But Ontario has clearly stated that if you do not have an OHIP card at all, you are still eligible for the vaccine.
