Sturgeon lost her nerve on independence in 2017 , Salmond claims

Alba Party leader Alex Salmond has said the First Minister “lost her nerve” on Scottish independence in 2017. The former SNP leader was speaking on a podcast with independence supporters after he admitted his party were unlikely to get any seats in the Holyrood elections. As well as Ms Sturgeon, Mr Salmond took aim at the leadership of the SNP, who he described as “graceless”. He also singled out MP John Nicolson, describing him as a “poser”. The Alba Party leader also claimed his party had helped the SNP in constituencies such as Banff and Buchan Coast. No threat from Alba Party in Kirkcaldy despite local MP defecting, says newly-elected SNP MSP

No threat from Alba Party in Kirkcaldy despite local MP defecting, says newly-elected SNP MSP Updated: 07/05/2021, 7:52 pm © Kenny Smith David Torrance. The Alba Party made little impact amongst voters in Kirkcaldy despite the local MP defecting to the party, according to the area’s newly-elected MSP. The SNP’s David Torrance told The Courier he hadn’t heard many voters even mention Alex Salmond’s pro-independence party. Asked what impact he thought Alba would have on the SNP’s regional vote, Torrance said few voters had told his team they intended to split their vote. ‘Little change’ Alba encouraged people to vote SNP in the constituency but Alba on the list to create a so-called “supermajority” for independence in the Scottish Parliament.
