Governor to urge President Biden to respond to U N letter of concern

Community group Prutehi Litekyan: Save Ritidian met with Leon Guerrero this month to discuss the U.N. council members statement. We requested a letter be written to the (Biden administration and Secretary of Interior) as soon as possible to push the U.N. request s forward, the group stated Sunday. We expressed a sense of urgency and are confident the governor will echo our concerns in her letter.   The U.N. rapporteurs asked the Biden administration to provide more information regarding:   destruction of indigenous CHamoru sacred sites and cultural resources and associated environmental impacts; measures taken to ensure that CHamorus can engage in cultural and religious practices and protect their cultural heritage in view of the growing militarization;
