US Remains Preeminent Economic Superpower as China Rises
Summary
China may eventually have the world’s largest economy, but that alone will not make it the preeminent superpower.
The US is nearly 6 times more productive per citizen than China.
Despite China’s rise, the dollar remains the reserve currency of the world, while the yuan has garnered little adoption.

Several weeks ago, we reached out to our sales team to find out questions they were receiving from Financial Advisors that they wanted us to answer in our Weekly View. There were several questions that we have addressed recently and then there was one that stood out above the rest: The rise of China and the potential diminishing influence of the US. Thus, we will highlight why we believe the US remains the world’s preeminent economic superpower in terms of productivity, currency, and center of influence.
Joe Biden, Culture Warrior
USA Today’s Michael Collins insisted, “but President Joe Biden seldom answers.” In the
Washington Post, Paul Waldman argued that because he has broken the link “between culture and policy,” Biden is “kryptonite to the Republican culture war.” Most of Biden’s policies must be viewed as part of a concerted “strategy to reduce the corrosive impact of hot-button social, cultural, and racial issues,” according to
New York Times columnist Thomas B. Edsall. And while “Republicans are busy trying to bait Democrats on culture war issues,” the Week’s Damon Linker contended, the party in power is “refusing to play along” and getting high marks from voters as a result.
Abstract: Beyond Meat commissioned the Center for Sustainable Systems at University of Michigan to conduct a “cradle-to-distribution” life cycle assessment of the Beyond Burger, a plant-based patty designed to look, cook and taste like fresh ground beef. The purpose of the study is to compare environmental impacts – chosen here as greenhouse gas emissions, cumulative energy demand (energy use), water use, and land use – with those from typical beef production in the U.S. A secondary purpose is to highlight opportunities for improvement in the environmental performance of the Beyond Burger product chain and provide Beyond Meat with a benchmark against which improvement efforts can be measured. The primary audiences are both internal stakeholders at Beyond Meat as well as external customers, consumers, and interested stakeholders.
