Benue govt bans motorcycles, Illegal revenue checkpoints in Sankera

The Benue State government has banned motorcycles and illegal revenue checkpoints in some parts of Sankera in the state.
The Benue State Security Council disclosed this known in a statement made available to DAILY POST by the Permanent Secretary Bureau of Internal Affairs and Special Services, Uyina Matthew on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the decision was taken after the consideration of the security situation in Katsina-Ala and other parts of Sankera area of the state.
“The use of motorcycles is hereby banned in Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government Areas, till further notice.
“The use of tricycles also known as Keke and other means of transportation apart from motorcycles will be allowed in the two local government areas. ....

Daily Trust - Ortom orders employment of more guards in Benue

He directed the Special Adviser on Security Matters to liaise with his Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs counterpart and the Permanent Secretary Bureau of Internal Affairs to effect the recruitment of more guards immediately.
The governor, in a related development, while being accompanied by the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mukadas Mohammed, and top government appointees, paid an unscheduled visit to the old facility of Nigeria Correctional Service (formerly known as Prisons Service) in Wadata area of Makurdi.
Ortom told journalists shortly after the inspection of the facility that government suspected that some criminal elements might be hiding within the facility and directed that all its inhabitants be profiled for necessary surveillance. ....
