Local man arrested after fleeing from police

Courtesy of CPD COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus police officers arrested a local man Thursday evening on multiple charges after he reportedly fled on foot from law enforcement in an attempt to evade arrest. Around 7:15 p.m., CPD officers observed a man attempting to hide behind a trash can in the 1200 block of 8th Street. When the officer exited his patrol car, the man, who was later identified as Craig Pike, 51, of Columbus, began fleeing on foot. The officer relocated the man near 8th and Reed Streets where he confirmed a warrant for Pike’s arrest. Officers searched Pike’s backpack and reportedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia inside. Pike was then transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and is facing preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a Bartholomew County warrant.

Jefferson Man Tased After Becoming Aggressive With Greene County Deputy Early Sunday Morning

A Greene County deputy was forced to use his Taser in an altercation with an intoxicated individual early Sunday morning. The Jefferson Police Department reports a patrolling officer noticed a subject standing near the door to the closed HyVee store at approximately 12:33 a.m. The officer attempted to speak to the male and he walked away, refusing to stop or reply. The officer requested assistance from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and deputies responded to the scene as well. They caught up to the male, 42-year-old Timothy Dale Sullivan of Jefferson, at Locust and Reed Streets and approached him again. Sullivan became aggressive toward a deputy and the deputy responded by deploying his Taser. Sullivan was arrested and charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts, both simple misdemeanors.
