Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday, after consultations with key members of his cabinet, decided that Pakistan will not proceed with resuming any trade with India until Delhi is willing to revisit its Aug. 5, 2019, decision to declare the disputed Jammu and Kashmir a union territory.
A day earlier, the federal cabinet had deferred a decision on a proposal by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) to allow imports of sugar and cotton. Finance Minister Hammad Azhar had told a press conference that the proposal was intended to reduce prices of the commodities and would “benefit the poor.” ....

The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad, on Monday met Chief of the Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed matters of mutual interest, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing.
Khalilzad was accompanied by Gen. Scott Miller, the commander of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, read the statement. Gen. Bajwa, meanwhile, was accompanied by senior military and intelligence officials, as well as Special Assistant to the P.M. on National Security Moeed Yusuf and Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq. ....

ISLAMABAD: United States Special Envoy for Afghan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Monday visited Pakistan as part of Washington’s new diplomatic push on the Afghan peace process.
Khalilzad met Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa at the General Headquarters. Besides the senior military and intelligence leadership, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Moeed Yusuf and Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq also attended the meeting. ....

Pakistan ready to take peace process with India forward: PM - Newspaper


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday signalled Pakis­tan’s readiness to take the peace process with India forward and said making headway was contingent on India providing an environment conducive to progress.
“We have always stood for peace and remain ready to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue,” the prime minister said in a series of tweets on the second anniversary of Pakistan Air Force’s ‘Swift Retort’ operation in which two intruding Indian Air Force fighters were shot down and one of the pilots was captured.
The prime minister’s message reflected the recent developments on the bilateral front in which the two arch-rival neighbours agreed to honour a ceasefire on the Line of Control that has witnessed some of the worst violations by the Indian troops in recent years. ....
