Engineering students part of North Carolina A&T winning team in All-Star Challenge Engineering students part of North Carolina A&T winning team in All-Star Challenge Published May 20, 2021 By : USBE Online A four-student team from North Carolina A&T State University earned top honors at the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge, an academic competition between students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This is the twenty-seventh year N. C. A&T has participated in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge and the first year it has won the national championship. The team was coached by Professor Byron Turman and includes team captain Malkam Hawkins, a junior majoring in electrical engineering, Frances Kendrick, a freshman majoring in nursing, Mitchell Wilson, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering, and Samara Daniels, a junior majoring in criminal justice (not in photo). ....
Photo: Justin Tafoya / NCAA Photos May 8, 2021 - by Bret Clein Beach Volleyball’s Season Comes to an End With a Loss to LSU GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Florida State beach volleyball team (33-6) had their season come to an end on Saturday afternoon after losing 3-1 to LSU (27-8) in the second round of the loser’s bracket. “The seniors on this team have been amazing,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “Molly becoming the winningest dual match player in school history, Torrey for coming to Tallahassee and taking a chance on our program and all of the other ones. They have pushed us every day and set a standard for our program that has helped create our culture. We have so many hard workers that we are proud to have worn our jersey.” ....
Louisiana Tech’s Debate Team rode a wave of success in the season’s second half to a 12th place finish nationally against the 137 teams they competed against this year. All competitions were virtual. Freshman math major Emmitt Antwine finished as first place speaker and senior biomedical engineering major Katie McKenzie tied for sixth place speaker. Antwine and Alex Gibson, a member of the Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) debate team, were second place overall for the season, and senior political science major Steve Garcia and McKenzie were fourth place. As a team, Tech was fourth place overall in team debate. ....
