PETALING JAYA: A heart patient nearly missed a scheduled check-up thanks to a not-so-comedic string of wrong messages from health authorities.
Shahirah Sohaimi, a 26-year-old with congenital heart disease, said the drama unfolded when her brother tested positive for Covid-19 on April 5 and was sent to the Malaysia Exposition Park Serdang two days later.
On April 8, she and her sister went to the district health office in Hulu Langat to take a swab test as instructed. The results were negative.
Nonetheless, they were each given a pink wristband and were told they were required to undergo home quarantine for 10 days, after which they were to show up for a second swab test.
PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): A company director who is held under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012 on a charge of committing sabotage on water services in Selangor was granted bail of RM50,000 by the Court of Appeal on Friday (April 16).
Lim Kian Aik was granted the bail, pending his trial at the High Court, following a 2-1 majority decision by the Court of Appeal panel led by Justice Datuk Azizah Nawawi, who sat with Justice Datuk Supang Lian and Justice Datuk Ghazali Cha.
While Ghazali dissented, Azizah and Supang allowed Lim s application for bail under Section 13(2) (c) of Sosma which provided that bail can be given to an accused who is ill.
