Temperatures plunged to below minus 21C overnight, the lowest in more than a decade, following an “extreme freeze”.
The mercury dropped to minus 23C (minus 9.2F) in Braemar, Aberdeenshire at 8.13am today - the coldest February night across the UK since February 23, 1955, the Met Office confirmed.
