From the Computer to the Classroom - kids transition back to in-person learning
VINCENNES, IND. (WTHI) - Children across the nation are making the transition back to the classroom. Locally, most schools are already back teaching classes in-person. Although some students are nervous about the change others are excited to go back!
Lexi Bush is one local student who is thrilled to be back in the classroom! She is currently a sixth-grader at South Knox Elementary School. However, this past semester, Lexi was the only child in her class learning remotely.
“It made me feel really isolated with everything,” Lexi said. “I had nobody to talk to and I could not see anyone.

CARMEL, Ind.
– Teachers in the Wabash Valley received a surprise donation last week from a local Verizon retailer.
According to Round Room LLC, a Verizon Authorized Retailer, all 526 of its TCC stores donated appreciation boxes to more than 500 schools across the U.S.
Local schools receiving supplies included Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Terre Haute; South Knox Elementary in Vincennes; and Veale Elementary in Washington.
The company’s eighth annual Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway took place during the week of Feb. 15 to show support for teachers who are juggling many education hurdles caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Since 2014, TCC has donated more than 40,000 supply packs to deserving teachers across the country.

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) Good Samaritan Hospital employees have been busy these past few weeks purchasing gifts for the hospital’s annual Giving Tree. Their efforts this holiday season mean that 159 children will have a little something extra for them under the tree Christmas morning.
Through the Giving Tree program, started nearly 30 years ago, hospital employees bought Christmas gifts for less-fortunate children in the Vincennes Community, South Knox and North Knox elementary schools. Hundreds of gifts were collected for these children including toys, clothing, games, crafts and other necessities.
Rob McLin, President and CEO of Good Samaritan, said, “This year has been especially hard on the families in our community. I knew that no matter the circumstances, our employees would continue to help these children in need.
