(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 1,143 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, which is the lowest number of cases for a single day since the end of July last summer. There were 20 additional deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the coronavirus death toll in Illinois to 20,536. While the statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is at 2.4 percent, the Southern Illinois Region had dropped to 1.7 percent. (CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 4,220 new COVID-19 cases from over the weekend (2,092 on Saturday and 2,128 on Sunday) with 88 additional deaths, including 53 on Saturday and 35 on Sunday. The new statewide death toll shows 19,961 people have lost their lives to COVID-19 or related conditions. The state’s weekend positivity rate fell below three percent, at 2.9. The Southern Illinois Region fell to 3.4 percent while the East Central Illinois Region is at 3.9 percent.
