It s one thing to imagine the future, and quite another to actively plan for the future envisioned.
There are dedicated community leaders – elected and volunteer – working to do both in southeast Fort Wayne, a section of the city ripe for opportunity and development in the forms of new businesses and open spaces for gatherings and recreation. The Southeast Strategy – a bureaucratic name that belies the hands-on nature of the effort – is the mechanism through which ideas have been gathered and plans have been drawn. Its goals are driven by everyone involved.
Verbatim: Community Invited to Review Southeast Placemaking Proposals
The following was released on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020:
Fort Wayne, IN – Area residents are now invited to review and comment on several placemaking proposals supporting the Southeast Strategy Update, which focuses on encouraging new investment in the southeast quadrant of Fort Wayne.
The proposals are available online at www.southeaststrategy.org. Residents may view the designs and make comments on the website or they may email comments to southeast@cityoffortwayne.org through January 13, 2021.
The placemaking ideas were developed by a group of 20 local architects and southeast area community creatives, in partnership with the City of Fort Wayne s Planning & Policy Department, Sixth District City Councilwoman Sharon Tucker, and the Southeast Area Partnership.
