LIVERMORE, Calif. - A Livermore planning commissioner has issued an apology after he spoke out against a proposal to build an affordable housing project in the downtown neighborhood. Commissioner John Stein said at a proposal meeting, I really don t want to see downtown become a ghetto of affordable housing. Just two minutes later, he doubled down on his position saying, I m concerned that we not create a ghetto. He tried to drive his point home further by saying he didn t want Livermore to become the region s go-to place for low-income housing and questioned whether neighboring cities were doing their part. ....

The four sitting council members were scheduled to interview all 21 candidates who applied for the appointed position tonight (Jan. 19) in a special public virtual meeting, but the proceedings were pushed out following the death of Vice Mayor Trish Munro s father, according to the city s website. The interviews are now set for next Monday (Jan. 25), which also coincides with the council s next regular meeting. ....

The board of directors for East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), voted 12-2 in favor of the yearlong nuclear monetization plan. Albany and Hayward representatives voted no. The board also includes elected representatives from Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton.
