KOLKATA: Amid the ongoing assembly election, at least 41 crude bombs have been recovered from West Bengal s 24 South Parganas district, informed Deputy Election Officer, South 24 Parganas.
This comes after the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, which was held on April 1.
Despite tight security arrangements the Election Commission along with the state police has on Friday recovered 41 crude bombs from the Padmapukur area under Pranganj Gram Panchayat in 148 Bhangor Assembly constituency.

The Election Commission has directed that Vivek Sahay, Director Security be removed from the post of the Director Security and be placed under suspension immediately.
This comes after a meeting of the EC after it received a report by the West Bengal Chief Secretary and a joint report submitted by Special General Observer Ajay Nayak and Special Police Observer Vivek Dube on the incident in Nandigram leading Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee being injured on March 10.

The Commission further said that a Committee of Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police will identify the other proximate security personnel below Director Security, who failed in their duties to prevent the incident and protect the Z+ protectee VVIP within next three days.

The third phase of gram panchayat elections was incident-free in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE)- affected polling stations in the Agency areas of West Godavari district on Wednesday.
Ignoring the Maoists’ call to boycott the elections, people turned up in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
