Second Covid jab for Burnworthy House, South Petherton | Chard & Ilminster News

Gwyneth celebrated her birthday between the first and second jab. Burnworthy House, in South Petherton, is the latest of Somerset Care’s 27 residential homes to be offered both doses of the vaccine. The home praised the Somerset South West Primary Care Network and Festival Medical vaccination teams for making the process quick, efficient, and stress-free. “Keeping our residents safe is always our top priority, and it’s fantastic that all of our residents and staff have now had the opportunity to take up their second jab against Covid-19,” said Jackie Howells, manager of Burnworthy House. “This is a really positive step that helps us to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and a way out of this pandemic.

A paramedic who volunteered for eight months caring for people in one of the world’s most remote communities has called for action to erode stark global health inequalities after being awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to emergency medicine and disaster response. Nich Woolf, who turned 68 on New Year’s Day and is originally from London, had planned to be in Vanuatu – more than 2,000 miles (3,200km) off Australia’s east coast – working with ambulance crews from February to April but was only able to return home in mid-October due to pandemic travel restrictions.
