Abstract:
Nanographene is flexible, yet stronger than steel. With unique physical and electronic properties, the material consists of carbon molecules only one atom thick arranged in a honeycomb shape. Still early in technological development, current fabrication methods require the addition of substituents to obtain a uniform material. Additive-free methods result in flimsy, breakable fibers until now.

Too much sugar may be hurting your muscles in a covert way

Too much sugar may be hurting your muscles in a covert way
Muscles put in a lot of work during daily life, suffering from wear and tear that is continually repaired to keep things functioning. A type of stem cells called skeletal muscle satellite cells play a key role in repairing muscle fibers when they’re damaged by exercise or general activity. Sugar, according to a new study, may negatively impact these cells.
The new study comes from Tokyo Metropolitan University where researchers studied how these stem cells grow outside of the body namely, in petri dishes. This led to a surprise discovery, with the researchers noting that greater amounts of glucose in the growth medium reduce the cells’ growth rate. ....

TOKYO The sound on public broadcaster NHK s livestream of the April 1 Olympic torch relay in the central Japan city of Nagano was abruptly cut for almost 30 seconds after the voices of individuals along the course protesting the Tokyo Games could be heard.
The silencing of their voices raised suspicions on social media that NHK may have cut inconvenient sounds from the livestream. ....
