Walmart temporarily closes over 600 stores as winter storms pound parts of US
Walmart closed hundreds of stores as a result of the winter storm bringing freezing rain, snow and subfreezing temperatures across the U.S. Approximately 628 Walmart and Sam s Club stores from Oregon to Florida have temporarily closed while the company s emergency operations center monitors the storms and other potential disasters . Walmart, which also owns and operates Sam s Clubs, will assess the status of its facilities and will only continue to operate locations as long as it is safe to do so , the Arkansas-based retailer said.

(“Walmart”), Asda Group Limited (“Asda”), the Issa brothers and TDR Capital have announced that the Issa brothers, founders and co-CEOs of EG Group, a global convenience and forecourts retailer, headquartered in Blackburn, UK, and investment funds managed by TDR Capital LLP, a leading UK-based private equity firm, have completed the acquisition of Asda, Walmart’s wholly-owned UK business, for an enterprise value of £6.8bln, on a debt-free and cash-free basis.

PETALING JAYA: Limited variety, frequent out-of-stock situation, troublesome site navigation, and slow and late delivery are hampering online grocery sales.
Retail Group Malaysia managing director Tan Hai Hsin (pic below) said those who are used to visiting open-air and wet markets are not switching to online purchases despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
“They go to supermarkets and hypermarkets instead. So open-air and wet markets, morning and night markets and temporary food stalls are here to stay.
“They will not be replaced by online grocery and ready-food deliveries. Once they are allowed to open and the virus spread is contained, their regular customers will return, ” he said.
CIMB Will Be Discontinuing The CIMB Tesco Platinum Credit Card

CIMB has announced that it will be discontinuing the CIMB Tesco Platinum credit card following “a strategic review between CIMB and Tesco Stores Malaysia Sdn Bhd”. However, the bank has yet to reveal the effective date of the discontinuation, stating instead that it will inform cardholders in a later notification.
The CIMB Tesco Platinum credit card provides up to 5% cashback when you spend at Tesco (capped at RM50), depending on your minimum monthly expenditure. It also lets you earn extra Tesco Clubcard points, even for non-Tesco retail expenses. The earning of these points is set at the rate of 1 Clubcard point for every RM2 (Tesco spend) or every RM4 (other retail spend).
