Columbia native Taylor Drennan will be recommended next week to the Columbia Board of Education to become the next principal at John Warner Middle School.
Drennan has been serving as the school’s interim principal this semester after CPS reported that Principal Jimmy Hale was out for the remainder of the year in mid-March.
Drennan has worked for Columbia Public Schools his entire career.
“I feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity to continue to serve the students, families and staff at John Warner Middle School,” Drennan said. “I love this school and this community and I look forward to building upon the foundation that we’ve created so far.”

Columbia Public Schools sent a notification out to parents of students at John Warner Middle School that Principal Jimmy Hale is out for the remainder of the year.
According to the letter, Taylor Drennan is the interim principal.
Dr. Jean Selby, a retired CPS middle school principal, will join the John Warner in an administrator capacity.
Hale is still employed with the district.
Officials with the district report that by law, personnel information is confidential.
