In the spring of 2011, Brandon Walley and Jerry Paffendorf were hard at work in Corktown. Starting with two long-vacant houses near Michigan Central Station, their group, Imagination Station, had dedicated itself to commissioning local public art projects.
They d already helped make a few attention-getting pieces a reality, such as the Hygienic Dress League sign that once graced on the Roosevelt Hotel with solar-powered neon seagulls, or Monumental Kitty, Jerome Feretti s brick-and-mortar sculpture near the old Tiger Stadium site. ....

Detroit's Marketing Supply Co. merges with LA-based agency Phenomenon


A Detroit digital marketing agency that has helped grow the online presence of companies such as the furniture maker Floyd, Detroit Bikes and Rocket Fiber has been acquired by a Los Angeles branding and marketing agency.
Marketing Supply Co., located in Detroit s Islandview neighborhood across the Detroit River from Belle Isle, is now Phenomenon s third location around the country, along with Los Angeles and Chicago. As a part of the acquisition, Marketing Supply Co. has been renamed Phenomenon Detroit.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re excited to partner with MSC because they have a great track record of driving growth for clients, said Krish Menon, founder and CEO of Phenomenon, in a news release. Phenomenon, which has 65 employees, has worked with Pepsi, HBO Max, Intuit and others. ....
