More Long-Term Care (LTC) residents in Grey Bruce Huron are using iPads to connect with their lived ones and each other thanks to a $15,500 donation from Bruce Power to boost to the activity budgets of 30 Grey Bruce Huron facilities.
In a May 4 news release Bruce Power said LTC residents have suffered with limited social interaction, so it provided over 30 LTCs in the three counties with the funds to help seniors safely interact with the world by purchasing technology and activities to brighten the days.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported one new case of COVID-19 Tuesday, in Brockton.
There were 51 active confirmed cases in the two counties as of just before midnight Monday, including 36 involving a variant of concern.

Four COVID-19 patients being followed by the health unit are hospitalized locally, according to the report.
The health unit is also following 184 high-risk contacts.
There are no local long-term-care homes, childcare centres, or schools currently experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
The health unit has confirmed 1,219 cases of COVID-19 in Grey-Bruce to date, including 93 among health care workers. Of those, 1,163 cases are now considered resolved.

“What will it take to establish the first human settlement on Mars?” That’s the question to be answered as the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) and Bruce Power launch a unique new virtual Spring Break program for Grey-Bruce high school students.
Registered in teams if five, participants will join the virtual camp each day from April 12-16. Teams will have a one-hour interactive lesson every morning with a subject matter expert who will explain a problem related to creating a livable habitat on Mars. The teams will then work with a mentor from North American Young Generation in Nuclear to solve the t problem.
