A disagreement over levies between commercial motorcyclists (popularly known as Okada) and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers on Monday snowballed into a violence that led to irate youth attempting to force their way into the Lagos State University, Ojo.
A viral video on social media showed angry youth vandalising properties, including vehicles, just outside the university campus as security agencies looked on helplessly.
“When the trouble started, I left my bus and ran away,” said Abdulrasheed Atanda, a driver at a nearby motor park whose bus was vandalsied.

Kidnapped Benue University students regain freedom
The two students were dropped off by the kidnappers on Tuesday night.

Two students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, kidnapped on Sunday, have been released by their abductors.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the students, Israel Kwaghnger and Salifu Solomon Odoma, were dropped off by the kidnappers on Tuesday night.
They later found their way to the school barefooted, tracing the rays from the solar-powered light in the school premises, Pius Adais, president of the Students’ Union body, told our correspondent.
Mr Adai said the two students were taken to the hospital and discharged after medical tests.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Spokesman, Mr Samuel Aruwan, the KASU branch of ASUU confirmed that the branch had joined the nation-wide strike as full members of the national union.
Students of Kaduna State University (KASU) on Thursday rejected the tuition fee increase from between N24,000 and N26,000 to from N150,000 to N500,000 by the State Government.
The students rejected the hike in Kaduna during a meeting with the students’ representatives, organised by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Terhimba Wuam.
Mr Abdulrazak Shuaibu, a medical student who spoke on behalf of the students, said that the tuition fees was increased from N26,000 to N150,000 for students in Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences.

The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo State, Dr Shola Eshiobo, has been found dead in his office.
A family source who pleaded anonymity said the lifeless body of Eshiobo was discovered in his office on Sunday morning.
He said the wife of the deceased raised the alarm that her husband did not return home after he left for the office on Saturday.
“He went to the office the house on Saturday, 17 afternoon that he was going to the office to attend to some official matter. He normally goes to the office when he has so much in his hands to do.
