Man Killed In Crash, Authorities Charge Suspect

A Catawba County man was killed in a crash Wednesday (February 24) and a suspect has been charged in the case. 65-year-old Timothy Jay Roberts has been charged with felony death by vehicle, felony hit and run, and driving while impaired. 26-year-old Troy Michael Faust of Conover was killed in the collision.
Wednesday, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to NC 16 at Mount Olive Church Road. A 2004 Ford pickup truck was traveling south on NC 16, attempted to turn left onto Mount Olive Church Road, failed to yield the right of way, and collided with a northbound 2000 Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle. The truck immediately fled the scene.
