A 28-year-old Sea Lots man who allegedly beat a woman last Saturday, making her fall into a drain, was granted $50,000 bail when he appeared in court virtually on Monday.
Police said Dion Mc Kenzie of Production Drive, Sea Lots, had an argument on January 23 with the woman, who was walking along Production Avenue.
During the argument Mc Kenzie is alleged to have hit her several times, and she fell into a drain, where he continued to attack her. He then allegedly walked away.
The woman was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital and later discharged. ....

Man gets bail for assaulting woman

A Port of Spain man has appeared in court charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a woman, which occurred on Saturday 23rd January 2021.
DION MC KENZIE, 28, of Production Drive, Sea Lots, appeared in a virtual hearing before Magistrate Jagroop in the Port of Spain Third Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 25th January 2021.
The accused was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 with surety.
The matter was adjourned to Monday 22nd February 2021.
Official police reports state that the woman reported to the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU) that on Saturday 23rd January 2021, she was walking along the roadway at Production Avenue, Sea Lots, Port-of-Spain, when she got into an argument with a man whom she knows.
