Jun. 4—BEVERLY — Neighbors of Frank restaurant on Rantoul Street went before the city's Licensing Board Thursday night to complain about noise and music coming from the restaurant's outdoor patio. Residents of the Depot Square condominiums told the board that restaurant customers have been on the patio as late as 1 a.m., forcing them to close their windows even on warm nights. Lukasevicius was killed in 1943 when his ship was sunk by the Germans Gardner News GARDNER The former Pleasant Street bridge has been renamed in honor of a local World War II hero who was killed in 1943 when his ship was sunk by the Germans. The Corporal Lawrence L. Lukasevicius Memorial Bridge was officially unveiled during a ceremony attended by state and city lawmakers, and members of the Lukasevicius family, on May 31. The recently reopened bridge had been closed for several years for repairs. “We are here for a number of reasons, but mostly because our family never knew what happened to Larry, so this is sort of a funeral for him, ”said James Kraskouskas, owner of Anthony’s Liquor Mart and Lukasevicius’ nephew, at a ceremony at City Hall. “It is the responsibility of all of us who are relatives (of those lost on the HMT Rohna) to remember them.” ....
Auburn Saturday: At noon, the American Legion Post and the Chester P. Tuttle Post 279, escorted by the Auburn Police Department., will conduct a salute at all 13 veterans squares in town, starting with the first salute and wreath placement at Tuttle Square. 894 flags were put in the cemeteries on all of the grave markers for their fallen veterans. There will be no parade and events on Sunday and Monday, said Town Manager Julie Jacobson. “The parade and other events had been cancelled due to COVID restrictions, so even with the changes announced last week by the state, it was too late to plan any additional events,” Jacobson said. ....
