College and university leaders across the country responded to the violent chaos at the U.S. Capitol Wednesday using unusually strong terms for higher education leaders. Many college presidents said they were saddened and frightened by the sight of supporters of President Donald Trump storming the U.S. Capitol and condemned the rioters’ actions on Twitter and in statements or emails to students and employees. I want to be clear: the storming of the Capitol complex is not merely a brazen act by a relatively small group of instigators. Alicia DelVento officially announced via video that she is running to fill the Massachusetts House of Representatives 19th Suffolk seat vacated by former Speaker Robert A. DeLeo’s resignation. Alicia currently serves as the Democratic State Committee Woman for the First Suffolk and Middlesex District and previously served as an aide to former House Ways and Means Chairman Jeffrey Sánchez and Representative Danielle Gregoire. As part of the announcement, Alicia released the following statement:

WESTMORELAND â A New Hampshire representative wants to know how someone could share a link with an anti-Semitic cartoon from a white supremacist website and not know itâs anti-Semitic or that the website, Daily Stormer, is a home to Nazis.
âIt went public on Dec. 7 [on Daily Stormer] and she reposted it on Dec. 9,â said Rep. Paul Berch, D-Westmoreland, about the cartoon posted to social media by Rep. Dawn Johnson, R-Laconia.
After Facebook blocked the post because of its source and content, Johnson then tweeted it out, and commented on Facebook, âWhen you try to share truth FB says NOPE we will not allow it.â

Robert Williamson “Bob” Gillespie, III was born in Dallas on May 20, 1939. He passed away on Dec. 11, 2020 in Austin.
He was the eldest son of Robert Williamson Gillespie, Jr. and Francis Joe Harrison Gillespie. Bob’s father grew up in Alleyton on the family place, but Bob spent all of his primary and secondary school years in a small town in north Texas called Whitesboro.
Bob then attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire for three years before joining the military in 1961.
He proudly served four years in the Air Force and then returned to finish college at Texas A & M where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Math and Physics and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
