Whitmer apologized Sunday after a photo emerged that appeared to show her disregarding social distancing guidelines at a bar. The photo showed the governor with a large group at The Landshark Bar & Grill in Lansing, Mich. Whitmer appeared to be with a dozen people with tables pushed together although the state still requires social distancing at restaurants, with no more than six people at tables.

A new report this morning says the lobbying firm that was part of the now infamous Governor Newsom French Laundry dinner has profited handsomely in recent months.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports the lobbying firm Axiom Advisors saw their revenue soar more than 25% in the last quarter, a partner in that firm, Jason Kinney, invited the governor to the party at the upscale Napa Valley restaurant during he pandemic lockdown. Axiom Advisors lobbies for Facebook and Netflix among other clients.
According to lobbying reports filed with the state, the Sacramento-based consultancy logged revenues of over $2 million between January and March. Kinney, a longtime friend and political adviser to Newsom, hosted a 50th birthday celebration at the famed French Laundry in Yountville last November that brought together at least a dozen guests, including Newsom and his wife, as well as the chief executive officer and top lobbyist for the Califo

With the spread of COVID-19 plummeting in California, triggering reopenings across the state after a devastating year of lockdowns, the campaign to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom from office could lose one of its strongest selling points by the time voters are asked whether to remove him this fall.
Recall organizers remain confident that animosity will continue to linger over past school closures, job losses and the billions of dollars the state paid out to fraudulent unemployment claims during the pandemic, along with Newsom’s missteps, such as attending a lobbyist’s birthday party at Napa Valley’s French Laundry restaurant after asking Californians to refrain from similar gatherings.
