Sean McGorty ran 8:20.77 in his 3000-meter steeplechase debut on May 9 at the USATF Golden Games at Mt. SAC the fastest debut ever by an American it marked the germination of a seed that had been planted three years earlier. Though the running world only learned of McGorty s desire to take up the event when the Golden Games start lists were published that week, it is an idea that had been in the works for quite some time, even before McGorty had joined the Bowerman Track Club.

And after a rain-soaked appetizer of a week at the new-and-improved Byron Nelson golf tournament at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, the same can also be safely said for Dallas star golfer Jordan Spieth.
While the venue’s first year received rave reviews last weekend, Spieth reminded critics that his four-year slump – and two-week battle with COVID – was merely a hiccup on his potentially Hall-of-Fame resume.

A new Elder High School Ohio license plate was unveiled Friday during a school assembly, according to a news release from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
The plate features the school s purple panther mascot and is one of more than 370 specialty Ohio license plates. Nearly 20 high schools and school districts have their own plates, but the only one in Southwest Ohio had been St. Xavier High School.
Elder, established in the early 1900s, is an all-boys school in East Price Hill. More than 720 students were enrolled this school year in grades 9-12, according to the school s website.
