Hamilton’s Creative Communities Scheme supports community arts initiatives that help grow and promote creativity in Kirikiriroa. Applications are now open, with the funding round closing at 5pm on Friday 27 August. Creative Waikato, which administers the fund on behalf of Hamilton City Council, is seeking project applications focussing on at least one of the scheme’s three criteria - access and participation, diversity, or young people. For those who prefer their Friday nights to be a little less dynamic, Flight Mode is an evening of ambient music in the Picturesque Garden. A popular monthly event that is usually hosted at Never Project Space in Frankton, this Flight Mode performance features compositions by Lyttleton-based violinist Anita Clark, and Cave Circles – aka Riki Pirihi – a multi-instrumentalist, producer and conductor from Wellington. Two Gentlemen of Verona is the result of a collaboration of two theatre companies. One of these is Slip of the Tongue, a group who have established a reputation in recent years for staging fun, fast-flowing summer Shakespeare productions in the gardens. ....

Another is Dakota of the White Flats, a work of theatre for young people and adults that begins a three-night, three-matinee run at the Meteor Theatre.
