Before Kilkenny District Court was Zygmunt Ruth, 9 Avonree Court, Callan. On Saturday, September 5, 2020, gardaí received numerous calls from the public. Garda John Moloney was on patrol and in response went to the Clashacollare area of Callan, at approximately 8pm. He observed a Megane car in the adjacent Blackstaff area. The Megane turned onto a road, in the direction of Kells. Garda Moloney followed. The other car was being driven erratically, weaving from side-to-side on the road. They came to Moanamought and Garda Moloney saw the other car slowly driving into a ditch.

Stephen Maher, 35 Melville Cove, Finglas, Dublin 11 admitted the offence which took place at Carroll’s Petrol Station at Knocktopher, Kilkenny on October 23, 2019. Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told the court that on the date in question the defendant drove into the forecout and filled up with vehicle with €85 worth of petrol and made no attempt to pay for it and then drove off. The court heard evidence that the defendant, who is 23, is unempolyed as a result of the pandemic.

Thomas Harty, 7 Steeple Court, New Building Lane, Kilkenny admitted being intoxicated in a public place at Johns Green on July 14, 2020 and to criminal damage at Kilkenny Garda Station at the same date. Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told the court that on July 14, 2020 gardaí were on patrol in the John’s Green area of the city when they came across a male asleep on a bench who was ‘heavily intoxicated and could not speak or stand’.

Larry Molloy, 65 St John’s Park, Waterford admitted the offences which took place at Shanbough Upper, Glenmore on May 29, 2020. Garda Damien Rafter told the court that he was carrying out a checkpoint when he observed the defendant travelling at a speed of 116kph in an 80 kilometre zone. Gardaí followed the vehicle which continued to travel at high speed and was detected travelling at a speed of 125kph in a 60- kilometre zone.

Kilkenny company fined €5,000 for breaches of legislation covering premium service rates Reporter:   ); A Kilkenny-registered company has been fined €5,000 after it pleaded guilty to two breaches of legislation covering premium service rates. Zamano Solutions Limited pleaded guilty to two offences under Section 13 of the Communications Regulation (Premium Rate Services and Electronic Communications Infrastructure) Act 2010. Miriam Kilraine, Compliance Operations Manager with the Commission for Communications Regulations (ComReg) gave evidence at Kilkenny District Court. Ms Kilraine outlined how the charges related to two people who were charged for receiving text messages with links to adult content, which they had not signed up to or consented to.
