JICA team to train Wasa staff

LAHORE: A delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is scheduled to come here in May 2021, to train the staff of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa).
This was disclosed by Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz here Thursday after holding an online meeting with JICA, Japan. He said discussions were held on providing better training facilities at Wasa Lahore’s training centre.
He said that benefits from JICA s experience would also be included in staff training, which will enhance their performance. He deputed DMD FA&R Muhammad Tanveer as the focal person of this upcoming important training.

LAHORE: The Punjab government will provide clean drinking water to the public by using multiple solutions and different treatment technologies instead of installing water treatment plants without need assessment.
Under the new strategy of phase-1 of the project titled ‘Provision of Clean Drinking Water’ by the Punjab Aab-i-Pak Authority (Papa), seven treatment methods will be used to supply water to Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan. Initially under phase-1, up to 4.7 million people would be provided clean drinking water. Later, the facility would be extended to another 65.3 million people.
Wasa to build two underground water reservoirs

LAHORE:The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) is all set to start construction of two underground water reservoirs in busy commercial localities which may also be used for public parking in off season.
Sources in the agency revealed that approval for funds for eight tanks had already been accorded by the cabinet committee. These tanks will be constructed on Waris Road, Karim Park, Railways Station, Cooper Road, Sheranwala Gate, Kashmir Road and Tajpura.
Sources said approval for two tank projects to be constructed at Sheranwala Gate and Kashmir Road was already accorded by DDWP under the supervision of the commissioner Lahore.
