ALAM: Disciplinary action will be taken against the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel and officers who violate the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the various Movement Control Order (MCO) that are being implemented nationwide.
JBPM director-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Hamdan Wahid said so far, the department had taken action against two officers, including a senior officer, who were proven to have violated the SOP on personnel matters.
He said one of them was nabbed at a roadblock in the peninsula for not having a valid document while the other was while managing a family business beyond the stipulated time in Sabah.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said this included making, publishing or distributing any statement, rumours or news on vaccines with the intention to cause fear among the public.
He said action could be taken under the existing law against those caught doing so, where those found guilty could be jailed for up to two years, or fined, or both.

Republic Day (R-Day) celebrations will be held in a simple manner in city on Jan. 26 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing a preliminary meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Wednesday, which was also attended by a few Kannada organisations, Manjunathaswamy said that the R-Day will be celebrated at Bannimantap Grounds on Jan. 26 in accordance with COVID-19 protocol issued by the Government.
Noting that as is the practice, District In-charge Minister S.T. Somashekar will unfurl the National Flag at 9 am and address the gathering, the ADC said that there will be no parade by students as in the past, due to COVID-19 contagion. However, there will be the usual Police parade at the venue, he said and added that all COVID-19 safety measures will be taken.
Government Employees Day on April 21

In a cheerful news for lakhs of Karnataka Government employees, the State Government has decided to celebrate Apr. 21 as Government Employees Day every year. The Day is celebrated as Civil Service Day elsewhere across the country. Karnataka Government Employees Association President C.S. Shadakshari had appealed the Chief Minister to celebrate Apr. 21 as Government Employees Day. Considering the appeal, the Government issued a circular declaring the day as Government Employees Day.
Also, it has been decided to confer Best Service Award to employees on Apr. 21 with effect from this year. Earlier, the Best Service Award was being conferred on Republic Day (Jan.26) every year. Also,the celebrations will be held both at the State and District level.
