Hotdogs have German roots and are an American staple but they’re also a global food find. Across the United States and around the world, these tube steaks take on different toppings and tastes.

In 2021, Denmark is celebrating the centenary of its first hotdog stand vendor Charles Svendsen Stevns opened several locations around Copenhagen in 1921. The signature Danish dog is topped with onions (fried and raw) and thinly sliced pickles, and sauced with ketchup, mustard, and remoulade, and can be found at carts and stands around the country.
A modest group of Kings Mountain residents vehemently opposed a 730-unit complex proposed during a City Council meeting earlier this week.
The development, Cannon 35, would include a mixture of townhomes, apartments and a retirement community off of Kings Mountain Boulevard.
During the Tuesday night meeting, developer R.D. Harrell Co. asked that zoning be changed to allow the 57-acre parcel to host the large development which would have entrances on Kings Mountain Boulevard, Crocker Road and north of Margrace Road.
Traffic concerns
The project was discussed for over nearly three hours of the four-hour meeting in which project managers, residents and City Council members discussed logistics and concerns.

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association (OFVGA) has re-elected familiar faces to lead the organization.
Grape grower Bill George Jr. has been elected to a third one-year term as Chair of the OFVGA, along with apple grower Charles Stevens who was re-elected as Vice Chair.
Both George and Stevens first assumed their respective roles in 2019 and were re-elected at the OFVGA annual general meeting held virtually on February 16.

“COVID-19 has made the last year one for the history books; I’m honoured to serve my fellow growers for another year as chair of their organization and bring their issues and concerns to the attention of policymakers at all levels of government,” says George. “I’m proud of the relationships we’ve built across our industry and with government to help us get through the pandemic so far, and I look forward to continuing that work as we look ahead to this coming growing season and post-pandemic recovery.”
