A Democrat-controlled legislature has been deceiving Connecticut residents with a home-grown Ponzi scheme for decades. Named after Charles Ponzi, the swindler of the early 1900s, Ponzi schemes create the appearance of operating a legitimate business by using the money from new investors to deliver fake profits to earlier investors.
Sadly, this is exactly how government operates in Connecticut. Taxes are raised year after year to fund popular giveaways the state can’t afford, rather than investing in the structural reform needed to improve the lives of Connecticut families, even as they struggle to survive in one of the most unaffordable states in the nation.

New Zealand s market watchdog issued more than 100 scam warnings over the past 12 months. The ongoing battle by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has provided Kiwis with a virtual encyclopaedia of the scams and rorts doing the rounds online.
Most of these schemes won t hit the front pages, but the collective harm they do is being felt around the world.

November 2020 was the 100-year anniversary of the imprisonment of Charles Ponzi – infamous creator of the fraudulent scheme to which he gave his name. Exactly a century later, Gutemberg Dos Santos, founder of AirBit Club, a cryptocurrency mining and trading company, was charged in the US with various offences relating to an alleged international investment scam , which, as described by the prosecutor, has all the hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme.
