A year ago, when we were learning about COVID-19, figuring out how best to deal with the pandemic and continue with our lives, things rapidly changed. The Times queried a number of residents asking what they thought was going to happen after the pandemic was over. Most of us, myself included, were of the opinion that things would be ânormalâ again soon. Things are looking a little more pre-2020 now, but there are still restrictions, warnings, pleas and hope from medical experts, politicians and just folks weighing in on the future. We followed up a few weeks ago, emailing the same list of people we contacted a year ago. Not all participants responded, but we had a good number of residents who were happy to share their thoughts. ....
Organizers want to offer âa big thank youâ to all who supported the 2021 Girl Scout cookie sales. Girl Scout Cactus-Pine Council closed their sales with a reported 2,082,000 boxes sold by 6,492 girls. All proceeds from the cookie sale stay in Arizona. âWhen you buy a box of Girl Scout cookies, you are helping support Girl Scouting in Arizona,â reads the press release. âThe proceeds from the sale at council level are used to support their members and volunteers with training programs, maintain the four Girl Scout camp facilities and program sites, and facilitate girl programs throughout Arizona, including the Navajo Reservation.â ....
Winners of the 9th annual Fountain Hills Coalition Essay Contest were honored during a ceremony hosted out of the District Learning Center on April 1. In total, 14 students were awarded honorable mention recognition with a tie for third place, as well as a second and first place winner. First place went to Andrew Miller (see related story), with Taylor Pace taking second and Sophie Dehombreux and Faith Shannon tying for third.
