Beginning Oct. 13, the Tony-winning Millburn theater will start its new season with “
Songs for a New World,” the musical from Tony winner Jason Robert Brown. The show, directed by Carolyn Cantor, “transports audiences through time to meet a startling array of characters on the brink of a life-changing decision” and runs through Nov. 7.
“Right now all of us are re-emerging into a new world,” Mark Hoebee, producing artistic director at Paper Mill Playhouse, said in a statement. “At this moment, we need the power of theater to help us begin to heal and move forward.”

Welcome Home season will bring their audiences back to the Hobby Center for the first time in over a year. For those who had already signed up for the motley crew season of ’80s rockers, sea creatures, and hospitable singing Canadians don’t worry, many of the dazzling shows that were scheduled for last year have been moved to the coming season.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) â Two weeks before the pandemic hit, Ron-Shaye Clark got a call.
An Annapolis performing arts venue wanted to host her student production of âThe Wiz.â Sheâd already put out the calls for auditions in January, chosen a cast and picked her co-director, an affable 14-year-old named Camarin âPeebooâ Wallace. Everything was coming together.
Then, COVID-19âs first infection in Maryland became dozens of infections. The after-school program Clark runs at the Pip Moyer Center shut down. Everything shut down, halting âThe Wizâ before it really began. Then, in July, the unthinkable happened. Camarin died after someone shot him on the playground near his home.
