The minister said in a tweet: [I am] happy to report that the target we had set for 1 million vaccinations in a day was crossed yesterday with 10 lakh 72 thousand vaccinations. All federating entities contributed with Punjab, Sindh, KP and Islamabad all doing record numbers. Amazing performance by all involved. In another tweet, the minister gave an update on how much of the main cities populations had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

CM to open Covid-19 inoculation drive today as Chinese vaccine arrives

Karachi February 3, 2021 The Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine’s first consignment containing 83,000 doses arrived at the Karachi airport on Tuesday evening. The consignment was received by Sindh health secretary Kazim Jatoi, Project Director Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Dr Akram Sultan and other officials at the airport, from where it was shifted to the EPI storage centre in the city. “We have received the first consignment of the Sinopharm vaccine from Islamabad, which arrived here in Karachi on Tuesday evening through a commercial flight. It comprises 83,000 doses, and from Wednesday, the vaccination of frontline healthcare workers will commence at a ceremony,” an official of the health department told The News.

Karachi February 2, 2021 Around 83,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, donated by the Chinese government, are expected to arrive in Karachi on a commercial flight today, after which vaccination would commence during a ceremony at the Chief Minister’s House on Wednesday morning, officials said on Monday. A team from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) visited various vaccination centers set up by the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) in Karachi. After reviewing the arrangements, the team members expressed their satisfaction and hoped that frontline healthcare workers would be vaccinated against the infectious disease in a smooth manner. The NCOC team, led by Brigadier Ejaz and Brigadier Zia for Corps 5, visited the vaccination centre established at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where Executive Director Dr Seemin Jamali and Project Director EPI Dr Akram Sultan briefed them about the arrangements.
