(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Farm Bureau is reminding farmers some truck drivers will need more training due to new rules that will take effect in less than a year. Beginning next February 7th, 2022, a driver must complete entry-level driver training (ELDT) before applying for or upgrading to a Class A or Class B Commerical Driver’s License (CDL) or before seeking an endorsement for hazardous materials (H), passengers (P), or school buses (S). While the ELDT regulations are not retroactive and do not apply to those with a valid CDL or to those who obtain an S, P, or H endorsement from the February 22th, 2022 deadline, those renewing their existing CDL and not seeking to change the class of license or add a new endorsement will not be required to go through the training. For updates, check out the IFB website online.
