Albuquerque’s already low industrial vacancy rate dipped below 2% during the second quarter of 2021, which represents a new record low for the market. (Mike Sandoval/For The Journal) According to a market report from real estate firm NAI SunVista published earlier this week, the vacancy rate for industrial space in metro Albuquerque stood at 1.98% in June, down from 2.29% a quarter prior. Just over 775,000 square feet of industrial space was available across the entire city, according to the report.

Santa Fe-based Parting Stone’s novel technology to turn cremated ashes into beautiful, solidified remains is rapidly gaining ground in the “deathcare” industry. The company, which launched in fall 2019, offers people a better way to connect with departed loved ones, turning ashes into smooth, polished memorial stones that can be held, shared or displayed, said Parting Stone founder and CEO Justin Crowe. The company now partners with 340 funeral homes across the country to offer solidification services to families who plan to create remains. That’s up from about 200 funeral partners last fall.
