A case against a Hattiesburg police detective and the city of Hattiesburg is scheduled for trial now that efforts to have the lawsuit dismissed have been denied.
The city, which was dismissed from the suit, was named in the case because it oversees operations of the police department.
Arthur Jones of Gulfport filed the lawsuit in federal court in 2018, claiming he was falsely accused of murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jabarri Goudy, a star football player at Collins High School, who was shot multiple times outside a Hattiesburg nightclub around 2 a.m. July 5, 2015.
