The Roswell Award short story competition is open to writers 16 years old and up. First place winner received $500 and access to the UCLA Extension writers’ program. Second prize was $250, and third prize was $100. Judges were Steven Barnes, Alyssa Bell, Wesley Chu, S.B. Divya, Rebecca Moesta, Philippe Mora, and Larry Niven.

Numerous people also spoke out at a Girl Scouts of Central Maryland board of directors meeting in favor of keeping the camp. But on Wednesday, the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland board of directors announced its decision to go ahead and sell Camp Ilchester, one of four Girl Scout camps in the state.
