A driver who collided with a pedestrian and was chased by police before crashing his car in Grafton yesterday, was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District responded to reports a 35-year-old man had been hit by a car on Duke Street about 3:30pm.
Police were told the man had been involved in a fight with a 38-year-old man, who then got into a Holden Colorado and allegedly drove at the younger man, hitting him.
When officers arrived in the street, he fled in the Colorado, and police went after him.
The driver turned onto Prince Street and approached Dobie Street at speed, where the vehicle hit a roundabout, then mounted the kerb before rolling and crashing into a tree.

Subscriber only A South Grafton man will spend at least eight months behind bars after he was sentenced for a violent assault on his partner and a vicious attack on a nine-week old puppy. Jeremy Hockey faced Grafton Local Court on Tuesday where he was convicted after pleading guilty to assaulting police in execution of duty occasioning actual bodily harm, committing an act of cruelty against an animal, larceny, contravening a restriction of an apprehended violence order, common assault and intimidate to intend a fear of physical harm. The court was told that on September 11, 2020 the 43-year-old had got into an argument with another person while drinking at the Great Northern Hotel, South Grafton. Police were contacted, however Hockey left the hotel and was seen by witnesses walking away with a nine-week old puppy in a trolley.

Subscriber only A man was found with gun shots to his chest and legs in a car on the side of the Pacific Highway near Emerald Beach in the early hours of Wednesday. At 1.30am emergency services received a call to the Pacific Highway northbound to reports of a shooting. NSW Ambulance, Zone Manager Mid North Coast, Greg Powell said the 33-year-old was found in the driver s seat and had been shot four times. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and then transported to Coffs Harbour Health campus in a serious, but stable condition, Acting Superintendent Powell said.
