An Eastern Cape man who is wanted for questioning in connection with the rape of a minor in 2019 is still on the run.
The 41-year-old Mark Paul allegedly raped a minor in Alexandria in December of 2019.
Less than 24 hours after his photograph went viral on social media, Paul, himself, called the investigating officer promising to meet with police in Gqeberha on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says he never showed up and is still on the run.

Port Alfred police need the community s assistance to track a suspect, wanted for questioning in connection with the rape of a minor in 2019.
According to police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender, the suspect, 41-year-old Mark Paul, was working on a farm in the Alexandria area when the complaint was made against him in December 2019.
The Port Alfred Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) are investigating the case and according to their information, Paul was last seen living in Kariega.

Cape Town – A couple and a visiting family member were left traumatised when five suspects barged into an Alicedale, Eastern Cape, farmhouse.
The 48-year-old woman’s husband, 49, was tied up with a dog leash before she was ordered to open their safe. The incident took place at 7.05pm, 41km from Makhanda (Grahamstown).
Goods to the value of R111 000 were stolen – four firearms, two shotguns, a 9mm pistol, a .38 revolver, jewellery (diamonds and tanzanite) and an iPhone. An undisclosed amount of cash in dollars was also stolen.
Police appeal after Alicedale farm robbery
The police have activated their 72-hour activation plan following a robbery on a farm in Alicedale last night Wednesday 14 April shortly after 7pm.
South African Police Service spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said the farm’s owners, a couple, in their late 40s, were having supper with an American tourist when five men entered their home.
The men tied up the husband’s hands with a dog leash and took the woman to open the safe, Govender said.
They took two shotguns, one x 9mm pistol, one x. 38 revolver as well as approximately a thousand US dollars in cash, in 1, 10, 20 and 100-dollar denominations. They also took her jewellery – mainly tanzanite and diamonds – and one Apple cellphone.
Elderly warned against new bank scam

Cape Town - The elderly are being targeted in the latest bank fraud scam.
“Several cases reported since January this year. The value involved is over R700 000. In a few cases, the bank was able to freeze the account so that the funds didn’t get released. The victims are elderly persons,” said Port Alfred police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender .
National police spokesperson Brigadier Vish Naidoo said while he was not aware of reports in other areas, people from different provinces are not immune to the scam.
The SAPS issued a warning stating that fraud cases are a crime of concern as criminals are using another trend to defraud persons.
