FARMINGVILLE, NY At least one gunman kicked in a door, forcing his way inside of a Long Island apartment, and shot dead a man and two women, but left an infant less than a year old unharmed, Suffolk County police said Friday afternoon.
Homicide Squad chief Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer said police responded to the Overlook Drive home in Farmingville at about noon after a relative called 911, alerting them that they went to check on them and believed them to be dead.
Officers found Richard Castano, 31,and Diamond Schick, 24, both residents of the house, and Nyasia Knox, 20, of Georgia, dead from gunshot wounds, police said.

FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. (AP) A man and two women were discovered shot and killed inside a Long Island house on Friday, and a baby was found in the home unharmed, police said.
Authorities identified the victims as Richard Castano, 31, and Diamond Schick, 24, who lived at the home on Overlook Drive in Farmingville, New York, along with Nyasia Knox, 20, of Georgia.
Suffolk County authorities went to the home around noon after getting a 911 call from a relative who had come by the house, Suffolk County Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer told Newsday.
