Meath councillors have voted not to have a train station on lands owned by Shannon Homes at Colpe as part of the new Meath County Developent Plan. Clr Stephen McKee had signalled the project - insisting he had earmarked a general location close to the railway line. Instead, a previous proposal by Cllr Sharon Tolan for a train station, which is part of the projected plan, is to be progressed to the NTA who are accepting proposals as part of a consultation process which concludes at the end of January. The NTA would decide on the location and that s one of the issues to be discussed. We are putting in submissions about the new train station to them, Padraig Maguire, Senior Engineer told the special planning meeting. ....
A new developer-led stretch of road, an extension of the road into the IDA Park on the Donore Road and exiting around Sheephouse, would transform traffic on the overstretched Rathmullen Road. That s the proposal Cllr Paddy Meade put to fellow councillors at last week s special planning meeting in relation to the new Meath Co Development Plan. It is now likely the proposal will form part of the Transport Strategy report presently about to commence between Meath and Louth County Councils. Cllr Meade said the new road would service the likes of St Oliver s Community College and all the residents in that area. ....
