How Sub-Zero Could Return For Mortal Kombat 2

How Sub-Zero Could Return For Mortal Kombat 2 The return of Mortal Kombat to the realm of cinema may have gotten off to a rocky start as far as reviews go, but anyone who’s already seen this year’s reboot will undoubtedly agree with the view that the franchise is brimming with potential. Director Simon McQuoid’s feature-length debut unquestionably has noticeable pacing and storytelling issues, but redeems itself (somewhat, at least) with several excellent casting options. Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada as Sub-Zero and Scorpion respectively absolutely steal the show despite their relatively brief screen time and fans can expect to see a whole lot more of both should Warner Bros. give a sequel the go-ahead. Taslim has confirmed via previous interviews, of course, that he’s contracted to appear in numerous installments, but how exactly would that be possible in the context of how the first film concludes?

Why Mortal Kombat s Major Death Isn t That Big Of A Deal

Here s What We Think a Mortal Kombat Sequel Will Look Like

If you’re like me, you watched  Mortal Kombat as soon as you were done with work on Friday. I’ve been waiting for this movie for centuries, it feels like. Long before any sort of announcement, I always dreamt of getting a cinematic version that could wash away the memory of the 1997 film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Mortal Kombat: Legacy (or even Mortal Kombat: Conquest) and the video games getting amazing reboots to the franchise, I still wanted a movie that deeply explored the lore I’d come to love. And fatalities. Overall, I thought Mortal Kombat was entertaining as hell, from its unapologetic display of blood and gore (shout out to that Kung Lao fatality, my fave of the film), to giving me a big screen backstory for its most iconic characters (Team Scorpion, BTW, but damn Sub-Zero was SICK in this film), to it, somehow, making me enjoy Kano?

Whatever happened to Threshold s Mortal Kombat 3?

1.2k Views As recently as 2009, a second sequel to Paul W.S Anderson’s “Mortal Kombat” (1995) was in the works at New Line. Where did it all go bung for an OG follow-up? Distributor New Line Cinema and producer Threshold Entertainment had high hopes for a franchise, even signing star Robin Shou (Liu Kang) to a three-movie contract. But after the dismal performance of 1997’s “Mortal Kombat : Annihilation” at the box office, let alone the ugly reaction to the film itself from both critics and fans of the series (heck, even the game’s co-creator Ed Boon hated it), it was no longer a given the “victorious” original would spawn a second sequel.
