COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Fire Marshal Steve Trall is asking residents to be very careful when having outdoors fires until we get a significant amount of rain.
This after firefighters from around Branch County were kept busy Friday battling three grass and field fires within an hour at midday.
The Coldwater Fire Department was dispatched to 168 Burch Road for a grass fire at 12:18 p.m.. Coldwater crews were already helping the Quincy Fire Department with a field fire so a mutual aid request was made to the Bronson Fire Department for a grass truck.
Trall says about two acres of an overgrown lowland area on Burch Road caught fire. The fire was under control in about a half hour and crews remained on scene for about 90 minutes extinguishing hot spots and logs around the fire area. No injuries were reported.
