Officials in San Diego, California, report at least four migrants died and as many as 27 were injured when a human smuggler’s overloaded vessel capsized off the coast.
San Diego Fire Department (SDFD) officials tweeted images from the scene where a 40′ cabin cruiser broke apart on the rocky coastline after overturning in the surf. A multi-agency response led to the rescue of dozens of smuggled migrants and the report of four deaths.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents rescued a migrant who was abandoned by human smugglers for eight days. The smugglers left the migrant for dead when he could not keep up with the group.
Mexican consular officials notified El Centro Sector Border Foreign Operations Branch officials on March 12 of a call reporting a missing migrant. The caller reportedly told Mexican officials he entered the U.S. illegally with a group and that one member was abandoned after he fell behind, according to information obtained from El Centro Sector Border Patrol officials.

Big Bend Border Patrol agents rescued a migrant woman left for dead by human smugglers during the Texas winter storm last week. Agents found the woman on a ranch near Marfa, Texas.
Van Horn Border Patrol Station agents received information from a caller claiming that a relative had been abandoned by a smuggler on February 13. Due to the dangerous winter storm conditions, the agents immediately began a search and rescue operation, according to information obtained from Big Bend Sector Border Patrol officials.

Border Patrol agents in Southern California rescued multiple migrants after they were abandoned by human smugglers. Agents found the migrants, including an unaccompanied juvenile, in near-freezing conditions.
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents received information late Tuesday night from Mexican government officials about a group of migrants who illegally entered the United States and were abandoned by their human smugglers, according to information obtained from Border Patrol officials. The Mexican officials told the USBP Foreign Operations Branch the smugglers abandoned the migrants on Otay Mountain while they slept.
